Favourite Bond Film, Song, Girl and Actor
|
There is a good documentary on Amazon about the Bond music which got me feeling all nostalgic so watched The Man with the Golden Gun, A View to a Kill and Goldfinger.
Favourite Bond is oddly to most, Roger Moore. I think he had best adversary in Jaws and just grew up with him. It was Daniel Craig for a while but I just don't like the films in the end.
Jane Seymour as Solitaire was gorgeous.
Lulu The Man with the Golden Gun is best song for me.
Favourite Bond Film, Song, Actor and Bond Girl?

Oh, and I'll also say that Spectre and No Time To Die were both fucking shit as well. Spectre was just awful and totally wasted a superb actor in Christoph Waltz by giving him such a shit characterisation and storyline. What a massive mistake.
No Time To Die was slightly better (Remi Malik was still a fucking SHIT villain though) but the ending for me was an abomination. You can't fucking kill James Bond. How do they even row back from that? No option is satisfying. Least shit would be to somehow pretend he survived but they didn't even put any ambiguity into it. A far more intelligent ending would have been to have him make the tragic decision to just never be able to see his wife and daughter again, giving a tormented soul feel to it- just like at the end of On Her Majesty's.... where it's clear he can't choose a normal life because he's James Bond and it's his grim responsibility to save the world over having a life- the classic superhero sacrifice, as he really is a sort of superhero. That gives great character depth.
Now unless they say it's non canon, they have a huge problem. They've timestamped his death and some other huge life events. Huge, huge mistake for me. Having 'Bond' or '007' as an identity that various people assume takes ALL the romance, mystique and relevance out of the character. Would be a horrible choice. I don't see what else they can do other than ignore Daniel Craig's whole run, or as mentioned claim he survived somehow.
Anyway, rant over. Fuck knows how they carry on the franchise. For a start ditching a silly story arc across several films that was actually really unsatisfying should go, and the films should return to standalone adventures with just loose continuity, like they used to.

Clearly Goldfinger is the best song. (However, I do really like Skyfall as well.) Shittest one(s) by a mile are the Madonna one and the Jack White one. Awful. Just like the films they correspond to.
Controversially I really like On Her Majesty's Secret Service in terms of films, so maybe that. Quite a lot for the ending. Also Diana Rigg was absolutely smoking. So she's the best Bond girl for me as well. (Hello Denise Richards, though) However, so many of them are just excellent.
Aaaaand, controversially Roger Moore for me as well. Reason being the first 3-4 Bond films I saw were with him so he's always just felt like the Quintessential Bond, even above Connery, somehow.
Be interesting to see who the next Bond is. Richard Madden for me. I think he'd be excellent. If they want to go down the hard man action film route then I could see Tom Hardy being similar to Daniel Craig. If they wanted to flip it to tongue in cheek less physical stuff, then (maybe controversial) David Tennant or Matt Smith. Can't see them holding their own in a fight scene, but I can really see them playing suave and enigmatic.

Film: Goldeneye is the film that got me hooked as a 007 fan when I was young but the best film IMO is Casino Royale. It had it all.
Song: Goldfinger/Diamonds are Forever
Actor: Craig
Girl: Ana de Armas but she hardly featured which was criminal so Halle Berry for a proper Bond girl.
Best Villain: Jaws
